Due to climbing airline tickets, more people are choosing to do their travelling by car this summer. However, it is a good idea for individuals to make sure that their vehicle is in good condition if they're considering making a big journey.

Advanced Auto Parts reports that there are lots of things people can do to make sure that their cars run smoothly as they plan to make big journeys this summer. The company reports that two things that drivers should keep in mind this season is the extreme heat and high fuel prices.

People who are planning to embark on big road trips may want to change their air filters on a regular basis in order to increase the efficiency of their vehicles. Filters should be switched after every 7,500 miles.

Also, as fuel prices continue to climb, auto experts suggest that people should try to minimize their idling because they're getting zero miles per gallon, which unnecessarily wastes fuel during a time of high prices.
