Though most travellers have their own criteria when it comes time to select a vacation destination, movies can be a great and effective source of inspiration when it comes to gorgeous scenery. Whether it's a Lord of the Rings fan looking to explore the wilds of New Zealand, or someone planning Unites States travel to Boston after seeing The Town, movies allow prospective travellers a unique look at some of the world's best destinations.
Vacationers searching for a new Europe travel destination may soon be headed to Monaco, as OK Magazine claims that the city is the true star of the forthcoming film, Monte Carlo.
The film, a modern spin on the familiar "Prince and the Pauper" story starring Selena Gomez and based on a book by Jules Bass, was shot on-site in the European city. The amazing natural beauty of the city was lovingly captured on film, including the gardens of the royal palace and the epic mountain vistas from the city's Grand Prix circuit.
OK reports that Prince Albert II of Monaco even stopped by to visit the set, even giving the film his "royal thumbs up."
This isn't the first time that the city has been on film either, as Monte Carlo has provided the backdrop for two James Bond films, GoldenEye and Never Say Never Again.
